Unit Size: Our closets are made to order and custom cut for your specific space — you won’t find any stock sizes here! Our expert design team can help you determine the perfect height and depth to maximize your storage area. However, we do recommend minimizing each unit to 40 inches or less in width to ensure the hanging bars you select will properly support the weight of your clothing. FYI, our wall mounted system hangs on steel rails that can handle up to 1,100 lbs (per eight foot), when properly installed! Working with a designer also allows you to understand all of the options available and decide which ones are right for your dream closet system.
Hanging Rods: Our custom closets feature several different types of hanging rod units. The most common are the double-hang rod and full height hang-rod. As the name implies, the double hang rod is a two rod configuration. The first rod is located near the top, and the second is positioned halfway down, splitting the unit into two distinct sections for shirts and pants. Typically, each section offers a height of about 39-40 inches. On the other hand, a full height hang-rod is unobstructed by a middle rod, allowing room for longer items like dresses and jackets.
If you are concerned about reaching the top bar, an adjustable shelf can be added above, making your clothing easier to access. This is especially advisable if your unit exceeds 90 inches in total height. Other options include a 3/4″ hanging rod, which places the rod lower in the unit, allowing for multiple shelves above, and a triple hang rod that splits the closet into three equal sections for accommodating childrens’ clothing. Of course, any hanging rod can be customized to fit shoe shelves, drawers, and cubbies to suit your exact needs and desires.
Drawer Stacks: Like our hanging rods, drawer stacks can be customized with any number of drawers at varying heights (3.75″, 5″, 6.25″, 7.5″, 8.75″, 10″, 11.25″, and 12.5″ to be specific). Each drawer has its own purpose, whether it’s a shallow drawer for housing socks, lingerie and jewelry, or a deep drawer for pajamas, t-shirts and jeans. Again, our expert design team can listen to your needs and help you determine which drawers to include in your closet system. All our drawers come standard with soft closing, full extension, undermount glides. While our drawer stacks can be customized, please note that drawers add more of an expense to your overall closet design.
Shelves: The space above the drawer stacks is typically reserved for additional shelves. These shelving units can be also customized with any number of shelves, whether adjustable or fixed. There is also an option to add doors in front of the shelving units to keep dust at bay. Other shelving possibilities include sliding wire baskets, tilt out hampers in two widths (with removable laundry bags for easy transport to the laundry room), and shelves made specifically for shoes (with a functional slant and fenced edge that matches your hardware and rods). We also offer corner shelving units (filler shelves) to maximize every bit of storage space available.
Doors And Accessories: Like our quality cabinets, we offer a wide selection of custom closet systems to compliment any decor. Choose from eight colors and five different door styles, with an assortment of accessories to complete the look. Options include clear or frosted glass doors, valet rods, sliding belt and tie racks, velvet jewelry trays, and sliding accessory hooks (for necklaces or smaller hanging items). We also offer lingerie organizers, pants hangers, and so much more!
