Looking Ahead: The Top Home Color Predictions For 2021

We still have a few months to go before we say goodbye to the year 2020, but color experts like Pantone and Sherwin Williams are already teasing their top picks for the upcoming year. If you want to give your home a fresh start, here are some of the top color predictions for 2021!

Antique furniture in dark bedroomSherwin Williams

Earlier this year, Sherwin Williams picked Naval as their Color of the Year, a timeless shade of stunning dark blue, and they’re already looking forward to 2021. It seems warm, nature-inspired neutrals, jewel tones, and fresh, modern hues will be trending in the upcoming year. Unique favorites include Novel Lilac, Great Falls, Perfect Periwinkle, and Oakmoss. Thankfully, you’ll find these and over a thousand other color picks when you shop for custom color cabinets online at TheRTAStore! Our custom color cabinets come pre-assembled with a durable, top-quality Sherwin-Williams painted finish.

Behr

Behr recently announced their predictions for the top color trends of 2021, with a palette of 21 colors divided by comfort zone: Casual (light, warm neutrals), Calm (blues and greens), Subtle (soft, gentle hues), Quiet (rich and evocative), and Optimistic (bold and saturated). The palette starts with soft, earthy shades of Smoky White and Almond Wisp, then moves into warm gold and brown hues like Maple Glaze and Saffron Strands. Soothing picks of barnwood Gray, Wishful Green and Dayflower then progress into rich and moody shades of magenta, teal, and dark blue Nocturne. When deciding on a palette for your walls, these colors would all pair beautifully with a wide variety of kitchen cabinet finishes.

Like paint manufacturers Behr and Sherwin Williams, PPG is predicting a neutral color palette will be on point in 2021, with Misty Aqua, Big Cypress, and Transcend, a mid-tone shade of warm brown, as their top picks. Subtle and serene, neutral walls let your decor and kitchen cabinet finishes shine, and help to create a cohesive and airy home design. Best of all, soft, neutral shades of white, cream, beige and gray can serve as a blank canvas, allowing you to easily change out your accent colors and accessories with the seasons.

Pantone

Pantone sets the design standard when it comes to color, and each year, they select one choice hue as their color of the year. In 2020, that color was Classic Blue, a rich and tranquil shade of dark blue, like Naval, that is liveable and easy to love. Since then, you may have noticed dark blue cabinets have become all the rage in home magazines and your favorite DIY makeover shows on television, and it’s no wonder why! While blue is always a timeless color choice for walls and custom cabinets, we also look forward to seeing what color Pantone will set their sights on for next year.
