Four Tips for Helping You Choose Quality Bathroom Vanities

Bathroom vanities are a beautiful addition to any bathroom. There are many different styles, sizes, materials and finishes that range from traditional to modern to fit everyone’s tastes.

Before you step out the door and purchase your new bathroom vanity, there are some key questions you need to ask yourself:

  • What size vanity is right for my bathroom?
  • What style vanity should I choose?
  • Should I purchase a vanity with or without a top?
  • What type of finish or material am I looking for?

Let’s dig deeper into these four questions so we can help you make the best decision.

What size is right for my bathroom?

The old saying “measure twice and cut once” is key when you think about purchasing a bathroom vanity. Bathroom vanities are an investment. The last thing you want to have happen after you purchase your vanity is to find out it doesn’t fit in your space.

Bathroom vanities come in many different sizes. The first thing you want to do is get a piece of paper, sketch out your bathroom and measure it. Take a look around the room and notice where all of your fixtures are located. Open and close your bathroom door so you can see how much space you have with the door swing and note that on your sketch as well.

A little preparation up front will save you time, money and a whole lot of aggravation.

What style vanity should I choose?

This is a great question and one that’s really personal. There are many different styles of vanities to choose from that range from traditional, contemporary to modern.

A great tip to help you narrow down your choice is to know what styles you like and what styles you typically tend to gravitate towards. Take a look around your home, look at your furniture; if you find most of your furnishings lean more on the traditional side, choose something that’s similar in styling to your traditionally styled home.

Should I purchase a vanity with or without a top?

This isn’t something one normally thinks about prior to shopping for a vanity. But it is a real concern. When shopping for bathroom vanities there are two types of vanities you can purchase. Vanities that already have a top built in or vanities that are sold without a top.

It’s up to you to decide which of the two types would work best for you. Should you decide to go with purchasing a vanity without a top, you will need to purchase or already have your own top for the vanity.

What type of finish or material am I looking for?

Again this is a personal question that depends on a few things, as bathroom vanities are available in a wide variety of finishes and material choices. Ask yourself a few questions before choosing a material and finish. What is the décor of your bathroom? Is your space more of a traditional space or is it more of a modern space? Do you want your space to have more of a minimalist look and feature a monochromatic color scheme? What kind of budget do you have to work with? Some materials like solid wood can be quite costly while others like laminate can be very affordable.

Answering these few questions prior to making your selection will help you choose the best material and finish choice for your bathroom.
