In this special Q&A, we sat down with John Hopson, AKA JohnBuildsIt, who recently transformed his kitchen using our ready-to-assemble Catalina Toffee kitchen cabinets. He shares what inspired his design choices, what he learned along the way, and how his new space makes everyday life a little brighter.
Why did you choose the Catalina Toffee cabinets in particular? What drew you to that style and color?
We went with the Catalina Toffee kitchen cabinets from The RTA Store because we felt it was a very timeless design and color. A soft, natural brown that pairs well with any decor and other components of the kitchen.
How was your experience assembling and installing your kitchen cabinets?
I showed the whole process of assembling and installing the RTA kitchen cabinets on my YouTube channel – John Builds It, and had a great experience overall. I used the supplied clips to assemble the cabinets and it couldn’t have been any easier. You need minimal tools and I truly believe anyone could assemble these cabinets.
What’s your best piece of advice for someone planning their own kitchen remodel with ready-to-assemble cabinets?
My advice to anyone considering this process, would be to work with a designer at The RTA Store. My designer, Christina G., was very helpful and always quick to respond. There were a couple of items that I would’ve missed if I just did it myself, but the designer had all my bases covered for me. They provide you with great 3D renderings, install guides, a complete shopping list, etc.
How did the kitchen cabinet quality and fit compare to your expectations?
The quality of The RTA Store’s kitchen cabinets really exceeded my expectations. The pieces all fit together exactly as they should and the finish on the cabinets was absolutely beautiful. Adding glue during assembly and using the clips to attach all the pieces, made for some very strong and durable cabinets.
What was your favorite part about working with The RTA Store?
My favorite part of working with The RTA Store was just how fast and smooth the whole process was. Every communication back-and-forth was handled nearly instantly. Amazing customer service.
What do you love most about your new kitchen now that it’s complete?
The thing that I love most about the new kitchen cabinets is all the specific organization. The RTA Store has all the accessories you could ever want to really customize your kitchen. Pull out trays, trash can drawer, lazy susan, custom fit utensil storage, and much more. Everything has its dedicated spot to keep it all clean and organized.
