While some of us love to cook, and some of us don’t, everyone loves to eat! Elevate your cooking skills to the next level with these delicious do it yourself seasoning blends you can make right in your own kitchen. After all, you installed DIY kitchen cabinets, so why not DIY your spices as well!
Taco and Chili Seasoning
This blend is easy to whip up, and allows you to adjust the level of heat from kid-friendly mild to super spicy. In a small glass jar or plastic container, mix 1 tablespoon of chili powder, ½ teaspoon of fine sea salt, ¼ teaspoon of black pepper, ½ teaspoon of garlic powder, ¼ teaspoon of cumin, ¼ teaspoon turmeric, and ¼ teaspoon of paprika. If you like it hot, you can add cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes to taste. This recipe is for a pound of ground beef, chicken or turkey, and can easily be doubled or tripled.
Steak Seasoning
When grilling up steaks, first brush with olive oil and sprinkle on this DIY Steak Seasoning. Combine 1 teaspoon of paprika, 1 teaspoon of fresh cracked peppercorns, 1 teaspoon of coarse kosher salt, 1 teaspoon of dried minced garlic (or garlic powder), ½ teaspoon of onion powder, ¼ teaspoon mustard powder, ¼ teaspoon cracked coriander seeds, ¼ teaspoon dried rosemary, and ¼ teaspoon of red pepper for added heat. Store in a glass jar or plastic container.
Fish, Chicken or Veggie Seasoning
For grilled or baked chicken and fish, combine 1 teaspoon fresh cracked peppercorns, 1 teaspoon dried dill, ½ teaspoon fine sea salt, ¼ teaspoon garlic powder, ¼ teaspoon turmeric, and 1 teaspoon chopped and dried lemon zest in a glass jar or plastic container.
