5 Home Improvements to Celebrate Dad

If your Dad is known as Mr. Fixit or Mr. DIY around your house, then a home improvement project may be his idea of fun on Father’s Day. Or surprise him by doing the work for him! According to a Home Advisor poll, a third of dads interviewed would rather have a home improvement project done for them instead of getting a gift on Father’s Day. Now that’s a great idea! Whatever you decide, here are five home improvement projects to celebrate Dad on his special day:

1.Get him ready for grilling season.

Grilling season is here! Buy him a grill or upgrade his old one to a model with more bells and whistles. It’ll be a home improvement the whole family will enjoy all summer long. Maybe his grill is in good condition, but just needs a little TLC. Cleaning the grill for him would be a great way to thank him in advance for all the meals he’ll cook on it!

2. DIY kitchen cabinets.

This may seem like a big home improvement project to tackle, but with the help of pre-assembled or ready-to-assemble cabinets — dad can do it! DIY kitchen cabinets are a great solution if your kitchen needs updating, but you don’t have a huge budget. The RTA Store has affordable and durable kitchen cabinets for the DIYer so you don’t have to sacrifice quality because of price. Be sure to give him a hand — it’s Father’s Day, after all.

3. Install a kitchen Island or cart.

For the Dad who’s a bartending pro or loves to host, a kitchen cart or island will make it easier for him to entertain guests. A handsome kitchen cart will give him space to hide away spirits and mixers, plus whip up drinks for guests on the fly. A DIY kitchen island will give him extra prep space, serving space and a place to store drinks.

4. Install a kitchen hood for the serious home cook.

If your husband or dad is kind of the resident chef, then wow him with a high quality, stainless steel range hood. He’ll love feeling like he’s cooking in a professional kitchen and you’ll love that the new hood is keeping the air clean.

5. Pressure wash the deck or siding.

According to the same HomeAdvisor survey, pressure washing is near the top of the list of home improvement projects dads would love completed for them on Father’s Day. Pressure wash the deck to get ready for grilling season and al fresco dinners. Or pressure wash the siding to make the house shine during backyard barbeques.
