It's easy to get excited about one home improvement DIY project, not quite finish, and then move on to the next one only for this cycle to continue. However, if you make a list and set deadlines from the beginning, with the right supplies, right directions, and right attitude, you can complete all of the projects on your list in no time.
One of the most common DIY projects is refinishing kitchen cabinets. This could come in the form of painting kitchen cabinets or adding/refreshing a finish. Your first step in this process will be removing the cabinet doors from their hinges. Next, you'll want to use painter's tape on the inside of the cabinets to avoid painting/staining those interior areas. After that, it's time to sand. While you want to be careful not to create any gouges or sand the cabinets too much, you do want to sand all of the wood so that the paint/stain will adhere to the wood. Next up, you want to clear off the remnants from sanding. You can do this with a vacuum and a cloth. Make sure to get everything up so that your finish is clean and smooth. And now, when you might feel like stopping — it's time to get out the paint or stain and finish up your unfinished kitchen cabinets.
You can spray, roll, or brush on your new coat, preferably with a natural or synthetic brush or foam brush to ensure that you don't get any bristles stuck in the finish and that you don't get a streaky look. You'll be ready to impress with your completed refinished kitchen cabinets!
