Exploring the Food Network Kitchens: Trends, Colors, Styles and Function

If you haven’t already noticed, we’re a little obsessed with kitchens—especially when it comes to those that belong to the stars of the Food Network. While these dreamy kitchens are the backdrops for many Food Network shows, we think they may just be more drool-worthy than the food that’s whipped up in them. We looked at their well-designed kitchens to get a feel for top-notch trends, styles, features, and function. Let’s just say we may have a mild case of kitchen-envy!

Ree Drummond, The Pioneer Woman

Kitchen location: Her Oklahoma ranch where she lives with her husband

Why we love it: Ree’s open ranch kitchen is warm and inviting (well, at least on television it is!). One standout feature is her oversized kitchen island that’s topped with two contrasting materials: concrete and butcher block. A less noticeable feature (yet equally awesome) is her hidden refrigerator that’s made to look like the cabinets. Overall, the neutral tones and natural textures of wood and stone are the perfect backdrop for Ree’s signature floral stand mixer, bright dishes, and sunny disposition.

Ina Garten, The Barefoot Contessa

Kitchen location: The Hamptons

Why we love it: If you’ve ever watched her show, then you know Ina is all about her white dishes, so it’s no surprise the crisp color is the dominant one in her kitchen. Her beautiful kitchen island seems to stretch for miles and has what looks like enough cabinets to hold all her white dishes (and then some!). Two seems to be the magic number in Ina’s kitchen, which features double ranges, dishwashers, and built-in fridges. Did we mention her kitchen is housed in its very own rustic barn?!

Get the look: Go with simple white cabinets to achieve Ina’s signature look and leave room for open shelving, which she uses to display her dishes.

The Neelys (Pat & Gina), Down Home with the Neelys

Kitchen location: Memphis, Tennessee

Why we love it: The Neely’s traditional, southern kitchen makes us feel right at home. According to Food Network, their cream cabinets and light marbled countertops were installed to make the kitchen pop on camera. One of the most eye-catching fixtures in their kitchen is the customized island with stones the couple hand-selected from a quarry! But our favorite part may be the indoor grill (genius!) that allows the couple to flip burgers and steaks in any weather.
