Hail to the Animal Kingdom: Tips for Cooking Game Meats for Dinner

Are you in a dinner rut?

It happens to the best of us. You and your family get trapped in a comfortable routine, and pretty soon, you’re repeating the same five recipes every week. If you need to think outside of your culinary box, consider introducing game meats such as boar, elk and venison into your repertoire.

While many red meats are high in saturated fat, which can raise blood cholesterol and increase your risk of heart disease, game meats tend to be lower in saturated fats. A four-ounce serving of beef contains nine grams of total fat, while the same amount of venison contains only three grams. Venison is also high in protein and contains no carbohydrates, and beef has three times more cholesterol.

Check out these game meat recipes for a new twist on dinnertime!
