Tale as Old As Time: Bathtub vs. Shower

Are you renovating or building a home and facing a debate between bathtub or shower in the bathroom? We understand, as there are many factors to consider when you're in this position.

We recommend that you start by considering you and your family's needs. How many people will be using this bathroom? How many bathrooms are in the house total? Do the adults in the home enjoy taking baths? Do you have pets? These types of questions help you determine if you need a bathtub. Even if you don't personally enjoy baths, if you have or plan to have children, you'll want to have a tub where you can bathe them. If you don't plan to live in your home for the rest of your life, you'll also want to consider resale value, which will be higher with a bathtub rather than a shower. That doesn't mean all bathrooms must have a bathtub, but at least one bathtub will be helpful in this respect.

If you do go the bath route, you can save space and make the space feel larger in other ways. For example, you can go with bathroom cabinets that are more narrow and choose a lighter color such as white, ivory, or the increasingly popular light gray.

Of course, one benefit of the shower is that it saves space. If you want to add value to your bathroom without a bathtub, you can still do so. A double-vanity is also a highly desired bathroom feature, especially if you choose elegant bathroom cabinets with nice storage and shelving options.

Either way, you won't go wrong! Just choose what works best for you with the future in mind.
